Baby Shower Invitations

This is a thrilling time and the baby shower invitations should convey that sentiment! Once you have selected a baby shower theme, it would be great to purchase invitations that reflect the theme.

Invitation Options: There are many options when deciding on what type of invitation to send out. Yes, it is proper etiquette to send out some type of invitation. My favorite type of invitation is the card & envelope invite, which is mailed out to all guests (I'm a big fan of this type of invitation since it sets the overall theme and can be saved as a keepsake for the mom-to-be and little baby). Another option includes an invitation sent out through email (ie. evite etc.)

After a comprehensive search for great baby shower invitations, I have compiled my recommended sites which contain beautiful invites to help you set your overall theme.

Invitation Timeframe: Try to send invitations 4 to 6 weeks prior to the baby shower. It's also important to include the information on where the mom-to-be is registered. The registery information can be included on a separate note card or on the bottom of the invite in small print. If the mom-to-be is not yet registered I highly suggest that you advise her to register, especially if this is her first child. To make things easier take a look at my registry recommendation list. I have also created a registry checklist, which should serve as guidance when the mom-to-be is selecting items to register.

Invitation Information: Remember to include the following information: Name of the guest of honor, date of the party, time of the party, address of where the party will be held, if it will be a surprise party, the RSVP date, and a phone number/email address or return card. Be as precise as possible to the details of the shower so as to avoid confusion. It is also nice to include a map or direction to the location of the event.

RSVP Deadline: Be sure to include a date as to when you require guests to RSVP. If you are planning the party at your home I would suggest an RSVP deadline of 1-2 weeks before the event. If guests do not respond by the deadline, start making calls so you can obtain an accurate headcount. If you are planning the venue at another locations (ie: Restaurant, Hotel, Hall etc), be sure to ask when they require a final headcount.

Option: If you have time on your side or love to create things, another option would be to create your own invitations. I have found this great site that will walk you through creating unique baby shower invitations check it out.
