Baby Shower Checklist

THE BASICS

5-8 weeks before event:
__Select a baby shower theme
__Finalize your guest list. Make sure to consult with the guest of honor.
__Obtain guest list address.
__ Establish your budget and find co-hosts to split the expenses
__Set your party date and time
__Find and reserve location if having the shower away from your home
__If you are having your food catered, find and hire a caterer

INVITE GUESTS

4 weeks before event:
__Purchase, create and send baby shower invitations.

PREPARE TO CELEBRATE

4 weeks before event:
__Plan your party menu and decide on the decor and music
__Take inventory of kitchen items and tableware for the party and acquire missing items
__Take inventory of party supplies and purchase needed decoration items
__Decide baby shower games, prizes and favors. Order or purchase necessary items
__If you're making your shower favors, start now
__Order any party rental equipment

1 week before event:
__Purchase non-perishable food and drinks for your party
__If you are hosting your party away from home or hiring a caterer, call to confirm
__Call non-RSVP guests
__Order cake or make and freeze unfrosted cake

2 days before event:
__Purchase perishable food except fresh meat
__Make sure your camera is charged, has film and is ready to capture memories
__Prepare a list of guests to record gifts

1 day before event:
__Buy flowers
__Buy fresh meat
__Confirm with restaurant/location and caterer again
__Prepare food that can be refrigerated, make sauces, wash and cut up vegetables
__Clean your house. Put out clean towels. Make sure you have enough toilet paper
__Organize and set out games and favors
__Decorate and arrange your home for the party
__Refrigerate drinks, defrost frozen foods and homemade cake

ON YOUR PARTY DAY
__Set up table and bar
__Prepare food
__Pick up cake, ice and balloons
__Get dressed but consider wearing an apron
__Reheat prepared food
__Toss salad and set out food
__Light candles & start music
__Relax, smile and have fun!
