Baby Shower Decorations
So it's time to think about the Baby Shower Decorations which will set the overall ambiance. When deciding on what type of decor to use, it's best to first determine your overall
theme.
The theme will set the overall feel for the shower, and it's an easy way to ensure that you stay on track while creating the ambiance.
Depending on where you're hosting the baby shower, whether it's at someone's home or at a restaurant/hotel, I have put together some great decorating tips and have included my
recommended site to purchase all of your baby shower decorations.
Color Selection: The most important aspect in setting the overall ambiance is to select the color(s) for your decor. If you have selected a specific
theme
design I would suggest you incorporate 2 colors from that theme plus white or cream. I would not go beyond 3 colors, as the theme may get blurred. Another alternative is to choose a main color (ie. pink) and select 2 other shades of pink which will all compliment each other. Just be sure that all of your baby shower decorations that you purchase correspond to your selected theme color.
Tables: Tables should be covered & draped with a table cover. If, you're theme is more formal I would recommend a white, cream or solid pastel colored table cover in a cloth material.
If you're theme is less formal you can choose to select a table cover that matches the overall theme design(please note that most if these table covers are plastic) or you can use any colored solid colored table cloth that compliments your theme's colors.
Center Piece: If your guests are seated at tables, I would suggest that each table include a center piece. The center piece is what helps create the overall mood. If you have selected a specific
theme
it would be great to incorporate the themed center piece.
Some other great center piece ideas, which are always beautiful, are a floral arrangement, pillar candles or a clear bowl with a floating candle or flower.
Gift/Buffet/Dessert Table: If you are going to have some designated tables for gifts, buffet or dessert I would ensure that the tables match all other tables. They should be draped with table cloth(s) and include a center piece.
Mom-to-be Chair: Some people like to decorate the mom-to-be's chair so that people are aware of where she will be sitting while adding an element of fun. Some ways you can decorate her chair is by attaching a bouquet of balloons to the back of her chair, adding a chair cover (that compliments the overall color scheme), or by attaching a big bow.
Banners: Banner's are still commonly used for baby showers. Banners are a great way to add decor to a room that is very minimal (they also look great in pictures). Banner's can be hung from the ceiling or attached to the table cloth on the dessert/buffet/gift table.
Recommendation: The Party Works is a fantastic site that has the widest selection of baby shower decorations.
